Puri Beach,
Orissa
Highlights : One of the few states least explored and
largely undiscovered by tourist is Orissa. Cradled by the
eastern ghats, situated in the eastern coast of India,
orissa is one of the most beautiful states in India. With
its Beautiful sandy beaches, fabulous wild life ,aborigin
style of living of more than 62 tribal communities, it is
still relatively virgin and unexplored by the western
travellers
Puri is 60-km from Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Orissa
and 35-km from Konark on the Marine Drive. For centuries
now, the beach at Puri has been the venue of countless
pilgrims taking the traditional purification dip. Puri is
the abode of Lord Jagannath and considered one of the most
important Hindu pilgrimage destination.
Things To See & Do :
Puri Temple : The holy
city of Puri , 60 km from Bhubaneswar, is one of the four
holiest points of piligrimage for Hindus. The deity of the
city, Lord Jaganath, whose temple was built way back in
the 12th century, is not only of great religious
significance to the people of Orissa but is revered by
thousands of piligrims who seek His blessings from every
part of the country. This intense veneration of Jgannath,
or the Lord of the Universe, reaches its zenith during the
annual rites of the RathaYatra in the month of June-July.
Konark Temple : The
magnificient Sun Temple at Konark is the culmination of
Orissan temple architecture, and one of the most stunning
monuments of relegious architecture in the world. The
massive structure now in ruins, sits in solitary splendour
surrounded by drifting sand. The temple was built by the
King Narshimadeva in the 13th century. The entire temple
was designed in the shape of a colossal chariot, carrying
the Sun God (Surya) across the heavens.

By Rail : From
Calcutta, New Delhi, Tirupati and Ahmedabad there are
direct trains to reach Puri.
By Road : By Road Puri
is 60-km from Bhubaneswar and 35-km from Konark on Marine
Drive.

Day 1 : Bhubaneswar
Arrive and transfer to your hotel. The well
planned capital of Orissa, is a city of temples. It had
7000 temples at one time of which more than 500 remain
today. Visit Temples like, PARASURAMESWAR, famous for its
latticed windows, MUKTESWAR, with its profusion of wall
carvings, LINGARAJ, dominates the landscape rising to a
high of 46 Mts. and finest representation of Kalinga Art,
BINDUSAGAR the Ocean drop tank, RAJARANI, with its
Exquisite carvings and many more is a must for the
visitors. Afternoon visit the twin hill UDAYAGIRI &
KHANDAGIRI the Jain Caves. It is one of the earliest
specimens of cave architecture of India. Enjoy the lovely
sunset on the small hill. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 : Bhubaneswar - Pipili -
Puri - Konark - Bhubaneswar
Morning proceed to Puri enroute visit the
colourful patch work village Pipli. Proceed to Puri, one
of the four celebrated religious centers of India, is
famous all over the world for the great temple of Lord
Jagannath situated on the cost of Bay of Bengal is a town
of eternal festival. Because of the intense religious
importance and hallowed tradition non-Hindus are not
allowed within the Temple complex.
Lunch on the Beach side restaurant. Later proceed to
Konark enroute visit the wonderful and beautiful fishing
village. Konark the magnificent SUN TEMPLE of India sheer
poetry in stone is known as Black Pagoda. This 13th
century temple is a magnet to the visitors from all over
the world. The temple is in the architectural images of
the mythical chariot of the Sun God here the Kalingan
temple style has reached in its grand climax stage. The
left structure standing among the sand dunes of the
Seashore is the most impressive of the Orissa temples the
horses at the entrance the encircling friezes, the chariot
wheels are executed with exuberance. Continue drive to
Bhubaneswar through the lovely countryside. Overnight at
the Hotel.
Day 3 : Leave Bhubaneswar
Morning after breakfast transfer to Bhubaneswar airport/
station.
